I’m not gonna lie…there were several early cut out days with river visits, but overall mucho stuff got accomplished.
I spent my usual time inside, making phone calls, following up with everything. The second artwork mockup got completed, and while there will still be some alterations overall, it seems to be the preferred design. The intent was to do something that made the name less of the focus than the rest of the art, which balances the questions people have raised about the name. If you take it out of the focal point, it makes it less “in your face”. Personally? I just want it done. Either would be fine. It’s a HUGE canvas to work with, but we didn’t want it to be too busy. Ideally, I wanted to do a doodle on the truck itself to really drive home just how big those teeny tiny little cards are…because realistically, they will be about a foot tall still. OH well. Just realize now, that I have proof that I wanted to try to get that across to fall upon deaf ears. Other than art, boring and uneventful on my end.
Oh but, here’s a thought…. So Brad was kind enough to leave a dumb show on the TV when he went outside today. It was about the “hardcore” street racers in Oklahoma. Don’t remember what it was called, but it was on par with the stupidity of Honey Boo Boo. OOOOOOOHHHHHHH burn. You know, the cheesy “trash talking”, the seriousness of a “challenge”, etc. Granted, most reality TV is as fake and ridiculous as the next. Anyway, the stars of the show are making a big deal about how illegal it is what they are doing, and dangerous, and what the charges are if they hit someone. In addition to that, one guy drives on probation and without a license? Ok so I don’t really care about all that, … except that it irks me to see sponsors in the background of their shop that I have sought, only to be told we didn’t have a TV show, so we don’t mean anything. Here’s the question…. It’s ok to support illegal activities, poor role models, etc, as long as you have a television show, but forget the small guy trying to do something genuinely decent and skilled? The problem is that we can’t do reality TV, because we are too normal. We aren’t wasted all day, we don’t do anything illegal, we just work hard, and get the job done on our own. No handouts, no schooling, no anything, just us, our time, and talent. We do cool stuff and have plenty of fun, impulsive action, but really? So to all companies who want only to sponsor Ludacris TV shows, think about the professional message you are sending.
Sorry for the rant, but it’s exhausting competing with stupidity.
As for the shop.
Our replacement bender finally made it. It was overdue, and hopefully it holds up better than the last.
The steering was mounted, shifter mounted, gas pedal mounted, put in more bars for all the support to the back, and started designing hydraulic rear ramp door. I would love to elaborate more, but I’m trying to ask for details and Brad is ignoring me. I guess I will just include a lot of pictures. Sorry for the not so helpful update on the build, but I think that is all we are going to get.
